ROMAN MAKŠE

Roman Makše was born in 1963 in Ljubljana. He studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana under the supervision of Prof Drago Tršar, Prof Dušan Tršar and Prof Lujo Vodopivec. He graduated in 1989, and completed his postgraduate studies in 1994. Since 2001, he has been teaching sculpture in the Department of Art Pedagogy at the Faculty of Education in Ljubljana, where he became Full Professor in 2011. From 2004 to 2012, he managed the PeF Gallery at the Faculty of Education in Ljubljana. His works have been included in numerous shows in Slovenia as well as in the area of the former Yugoslavia, in Austria, Italy, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and the USA. His works are included in collections in Slovenia and abroad, and he has also completed several permanent open-air sculptures. He has received several awards, including the 1994 Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award in New York. He is a member of the international Sculpture Network. He lives and works in Ljubljana.
