The twentieth century was marked by catastrophic wars and ideological conflicts, but also new ideas and new forms of collaboration. And all the while, thousands of Slovenian stories, cultural, social, political, urban, architectural and technological changes, and personal and collective experiences interlaced to give Slovenia a new face for the twenty-first century. In the fast-paced and superficial times of today, we need to revive and rediscover our past. In Slovenia, a crossroads of different worlds and cultures, it is especially important for us to get to know our roots and the history of our social, economic and cultural growth.
The Album of Slovenia collection was created for that very purpose: to collect digitised copies of photos from family albums, as well as letters, documents and other important pieces of history stored away safely in the attics of Slovenians. The Album of Slovenia features various content created in Slovenia, our neighbouring countries and elsewhere around the world before the advent of digital photography.
Add your memory!
If you want to share your memories with others and keep them from fading away, you are welcome to contribute them to the Album of Slovenia, our treasure trove of memories from the 20th century. The process is simple: click on the “Add a memory” button in the top right corner and submit the digitised content (photo, letter, etc.) you want to share using the content submission module. Add some basic information describing the content (whether it is a photo or a letter, etc.) and a word or two about your memories (e.g. about the occasion at which the photo was taken, why it is important to you, who is in it, or whatever else you want to say about a person or object in the photo or the time or place it was taken). Once it is approved by the editor, the content will be added to the album.
Before you can add memories to the Album of Slovenia, you have to log in or register.
