Načrt zanjo je naredil arhitekt Ciril Metod Koch in sicer hkrati z načrtom za sosednjo Pogačnikovo hišo. Pri obeh hišah je uporabil secesijsko okrasje, pri čemer se je zgledoval po dunajskih arhitektih. Zelo je poudaril posamezne arhitekturne motive in s tem ustvaril vtis nepovezane celote.
Fasada Čudnove hiše je bila dolgo pobarvana vijolično-rdeče, ob prenovi pa so jo prebarvali s svetlejšo, bolj nevtralno barvo.
