In August 1943, in front of a church in Prlekija Region, the last portrait photograph of Leopoldina Pečar was taken. Forty‑two‑year‑old Leopoldina was visiting her daughter Poldika, who worked as the head of a kindergarten in Stročja village. On this occasion she also saw her husband Bogomir for the last time, as he came from Kapfenberg to visit. In the photographs from that meeting, Leopoldina is smiling, calm, seemingly content with the modest life she had been given. Had someone arranged a funeral for her two years later, this would have been the perfect final image.
