The Widow Leopoldina with Her Children

Three months after Ivan’s death, Leopoldina and her daughter Poldika travelled to retrieve her son Hansi, who was being treated in Wolkersdorf near Vienna. There lived her sister‑in‑law Paula Bartl (1898–1988), whose husband Erich Bartl was a physician. The trip to Vienna—where the photograph was taken—was the only occasion on which Leopoldina ever left Styria.
