Leta 1966 je Jeklotehna za ublažitev naraščajoče prostorske stiske kupila 2400 m2 starih kaznilniških prostorov v bivšem kazenskem zavodu KPD na Pobreški cesti 20. To je bila le začasna rešitev, saj so bile te zgradbe predvidene za rušenje.
