After Bogomir left for work in Austria in the autumn of 1938, he and Leopoldina had virtually no further contact. She learned of his illness from others and visited him only then. Their last photograph together shows them sitting at a table like two rather distant relatives. To Leopoldina’s left sits her older sister Maria; to Bogomir’s right, an unknown couple. The photograph was likely taken in the spring of 1942, when Leopoldina visited her daughter Poldika in Graz for her twentieth birthday and then continued to visit her sister Maria in Mitterdorf near Kapfenberg.
