Alenka Mezek Šibelja is the mentor of the lacemaking club at Komen Elementary school. She comes from Žiri, which is one of the centres of the Slovene lace. In Komen elementary school she has run the lace club since 1996.
The girls create laces all the time, participate in school exhibitions, thematic and municipal exhibitions, etc. They participate in different competitions and get very good results. Alenka likes to praise her former and present pupils that come to her classes in great numbers and are very interested in lacemaking. She tries very hard to preserve the tradition of lacemaking on the Karst.
